Movement, MacArthur No. 3

Completed 1997

Photo: Paul O'Connor

I made all the parts to this movement except the weight cable and the glass mercury jar. I cut and polished the ruby bearings at each end of the escape and pallet arbors, and mounted them in plate bezels. I cut, mounted, and polished the saphire pallets. It has a high numbered train with hardened and tempered pinions.

The movement from this clock shared First Prize in the NAWCC Craft Competition, Single Train Movement catagory, at the national convention in Atlanta, GA, 1997.
