BILL CARTER

'PENSIVE MOMENT'

Bill Carter's contemporary painting style and rich use of color brings a fresh approach to painting in watercolor. Before developing his career in fine art, Bill worked as an illustrator and art director. He holds membership in both the American and National Watercolor Societies.

ALBERT DREHER 'DEVOTION SANCTUARY'
An artist on the leading edge of contemporary painting, Albert Dreher is widely known as a pioneer in oil wash techniques.

Everything in a Dreher painting flows: space, color, time. The circular sun/moon symbol is a constant reminder of hope arising out of despair - the light dawning out of the darkness.

JOHN SCHRUP: 'HEART SHAPES'
John made his way to Taos after a long career as an art professor at several distinguished universities. His work combines technical brilliance, along with a sly wit that is both challenging and compelling to the viewer. John works primarily in oil.

DONNA CREWS: 'SAFE SEX'

Donna describes her work as mystical realism. A resident of Taos, she lives and works in her 100 year old adobe home overlooking the Valdez Valley, tapping into the aura of this ancient land. Formerly an art therapist, Donna works in watercolor, charcoal and ink.

DORIS BEWLEY
Doris loves producing functional art. Her Matisse-like figures can be found on pillows, book covers and wine glasses. it's a wonderful way to own original art that doesn't necessarily hang on the wall. See Fine Crafts for an image of her work.

ANDREW TRUNFIO:
'EARTH MOTHER'

ARTIST'S STATEMENT: I've never lost my excitement for the figure, the ever changing energy taking new shapes, shapes I can see before me and intuitively feel at the same time. When this happens, it's as if the piece sculpts itself and I just dance with it.

FRENCH SMITH
In addition to abstract work, there is a strong body of figurative art.

Her Native American figures move out of historical time into an everpresent connectedness to Nature.

DONA LECRONE WALSTON:
'COMPLIMENTS'

Dona LeCrone Walston is fascinated by the shapes, colors and textures of
the southwest landscape. Her brush captures the sinuous and sensual
elements of the wind-tortured rocks and canyons, transforming them into a spirit world, viewed through an ancient keyhole.

GERRY GROUT: 'SILENT SINAGUA RUIN' ARTIST'S STATEMENT:
My art is born more from a sense of touch than from sight. Drawing from a model or object before me is like climbing a mountain as opposed to viewing it from afar...I need to feel I have touched the solid form.

SUSAN RODEN:
'THE ALLEY'
ARTIST'S STATEMENT: My goal is to portray the simple beauty of life in all its expressive moods. When all is stripped away, the true essence of life appears. I have been heavily influenced by Impressionism. Each individual stroke adds to the sensitivity of the subject.

CARROLL GRIESDIECK: 'HOOVER AND THE 5 GALLON BUCKET'
A true local favorite, Carroll is known for her custom pet portraits. Her monotype technique allows her to capture the spontaneity and unique personality of her fourlegged subjects. Her work is imbued with a refreshing humor and keen perspective into the relationship between people and their pets.
