MacArthur no. 3

Completed 1999

I made all the parts to this movement except the weight cable and the glass mercury jar. I cut and polished the ruby bearings at each end of the escape and pallet arbors, and mounted them in plate bezels. I cut, mounted, and polished the saphire pallets. It has a high numbered train with hardened and tempered pinions. The case is oak, with half-cylindrical glass.

The movement from this clock shared First Prize in the NAWCC Craft Competition, Single Train Movement catagory, at the national convention in Atlanta, GA, 1997.
