Krichevsky Residence

This residence, located in the mountains west of Denver, was an exercise in solar design integrated into a contemporary expression of the owner's functional program. Passive solar gain was encouraged in the sun room/kitchen, while a more protected and controlled heat and light was provided for in the main living space. Active solar panels were also provided...and account for nearly 90% of the domestic hot water needs of the house. A rooftop mounted telescope/observatory provides yet another element to the roofscape. These elements were left expressed as the elements they were. No attempt was made to disguise them.
