The Internet Primer

  • Netiquette

One of the elements of being on-line and communicating with other people through this medium is remembering our etiquette: how to behave without the accustomed interface of actually seeing the other person or talking with them. This simple guide reminds us of how we should behave.

  • w3Schools
W3Schools is a great resource for experienced Internet developers as well as those who are just getting started. This e-learning portal offers more than a dozen tutorials relating to Internet development. The HTML section features tutorials for many of the current buzz-acronyms including HTML, XHTML, DHTML, and CSS. The XML section has tutorials in XML, DTDs, XSL, and DOM as well as other developing XML technologies. For the more advanced developer, the site presents tutorials on JavaScript, ASP, and SQL. All of the tutorials start with information for beginners, but many also have complete reference sections for the experienced developer. These reference sections make the site a great tool for developers trying to remember the exact syntax for a pesky command or tag.

  • Web Reference
Web Development and what all those terms mean that we encounter in the computer world. A wealth of information about the web, computers, memory, purchasing, and more.

  • Wed Design Group
The Web Design Group was founded to promote the creation of non-browser specific, non-resolution specific, creative and informative sites that are accessible to all users worldwide. To this end, the WDG offers material on a wide range of HTML related topics. We hope that with this site as a reference, you will be able to create Web sites that can be used by every person on the Internet, regardless of browser, platform, or settings.

  • Personal Web Pages
As almost every user will admit, personal Webpages are often far from the Internet's strong point. Uninspired, incomprehensible, and sometimes almost unreadable, many personal pages seem more a waste of bandwidth than anything else. This site, an About.com guide created and maintained by Linda Roeder, offers hope and help in the form of a number of articles and numerous related resources to help users design and create their own personal Webpages. Beginners should start with the Creating a Web Site Tutorial, while others will benefit from the archive of weekly articles, tips of the day, design tools, and product reviews. In addition to covering the process of creating and maintaining a personal Website, the guide addresses topics such as online diaries, Webcams, statistics-keeping, and Webrings.
