Tours of Fulbourn, Cambridge:
Cambridgeshire Anglican Parish Church

I was born in 1934 in Coventry (then Warwickshire, now W. Midlands) in England.  Educated at Ratcliffe College, Leicester, and Christs, Cambridge.

Veronica was born in the same year in Brighton, Sussex, England.

I joined Pye Telecom in Cambridge in 1960, whose main business was mobile 2 way radio, and stayed with them through various name changes after they were taken over by Dutch Multinational Philips.  During my time with them, I travelled extensively in Europe, and a little outside (Canada, Australia, RSA, USA).  I was offered a very good deal to retire early, which I took without regret, to "spend more time with my wife and cats".

While I was with Pye, I met my wife, Veronica, who was by then teaching in a secondary school (the Cromwell) in Chatteris, Cambridgshire.  We have 4 sons and a daughter, now spread about the UK and US.  All of the sons keep in touch by email, and they called me Flabs, so that explains my email address after retirement.

Peter is a Quantity Surveyor, living in Newmarket, Suffolk, near enough to visit most weekends.  Simon is a Web Site Provider, and computer programmer, in Surrey.  Matthew is doing research in Edinburgh, Scotland.  Andrew is in oil exploration, somewhere between Alaska and Cape Horn, based in Houston, Texas.  Helen has a degree in Chemistry, and is in Sheffield, S Yorkshire.  Veronica used to breed Siamese cats, and although we gave up some time ago, we still have a collection.

Luckily our neighbours have an equivalent number of rabbits, and chickens, and are still working teachers, so we have a reciprocal arrangement for holidays, that lets us get away during school terms.

Like so many others, I don't know how I ever had time to go to work.  Simon expects me to write software for him sometimes. My brother-in-law wants me to manage a Web site for him. My Pastor expects me to manage our parish web site.  We have joined the U3A in Cambridge, and we work 2 half days a week in the local Cats' Protection League Charity Shop.

English Papist.
