Most of my early life I lived with my family in Larchmont, NY. This was the typical suburban life with a father who commuted to his executive job in the city and a mother who was the homemaker in charge of four children and the household. When WW II arrived I accelerated out of the local high school at the age of 16 and entered Yale in July, 1943 as one of very few civilians - the entire campus seemingly given over to the military with V-12, ASTP, Army Air Corp and Marines getting specialized training. What with going to school year round and my deferred entry into service due to below standard eyesight I was about to graduate at age 19 when VJ day came and shortly thereafter I was drafted. When I returned from Alaska in Sept. 1947 I had the opportunity of getting a chance to see what normal college life was like for my senior year, graduating in June, 1948.

I joined the Royal Typewriter Company as a salesman in NYC and spent the next 14 years with Royal. I married my first, now late, wife in 1954 and we moved to Albany, NY then back to Bronxville, NY and joining the international division of Royal to England, then Switzerland, and back to England again to manage the British company. I left Royal to go into the cosmetics business back in New York City and after several years in that, moved to New England where we started a small business in computer education and services. My final occupation was as the owner of a bookstore in Portsmouth, NH. A few years after selling the bookstore and retiring I lost my wife to cancer in 1991. During our years together we had six children, three girls and three boys who are now pretty much split between the East and West Coasts. Only my youngest daughter is married and she is about to have her second child which I am very much looking forward to.

I married my current wife, Lesley, in 1992 having known her for some forty years during which time she and her first husband were close friends of ours as were our respective children. Two years ago we decided to move to Cape Cod and we have never regretted our choice. For us it is a marvelous place to retire with many activities and interests to pursue. We are both active as volunteer instructors of computers to seniors both at the Yarmouth Library and through an organization called "Computers for Seniors" which will have a new location starting this October at the Hyannis campus of the Cape Cod Community College. We have received a great deal of help from the Cape Cod Bank and Trust Company and are looking forward to a very active year ahead. We are also involved in sailing, golf, gathering shellfish, the Academy for Lifelong Learning at the community college as well as multiple family activities and interests.
