I have lived my allotted three score and ten, plus one, and am retired from military service.
We are now occupied with taking care of grandchildren, so that daughter and husband can continue careers as physicians without the hassle of day care until the children reach school age. Besides, it's fun.
Background of 32 years in military intelligence; no spook I however, having been mostly involved in document exploitation in Asia for 24 years. I speak Japanese, some Korean, a little Chinese and enough Vietnamese and Thai to haggle at the market.
Married to Peggy for forty years, with three children, all professional, and four grandchildren. Have traveled a bit in Asia, and visited Europe once.
Current diversions are photography, sailing, vegetable gardening, woodworking, homebrewing and some serious dog training in Schutzhund and search and rescue scent training. I belong to a haiku writing forum that is very active. We have enjoyed searching old battlefields and homesteads with a metal detector, also.
As you may have discerned from my address, I am a Freemason. If there is a brother in this group, here is a friendly grip and a word.
Also belong to the following e-mail mailing lists, which would indicate some interests: Psi (psychic matters), psychology, woodworking, ethnology, service dogs, Nippon Culture, Hello-Tokyo, word-a-day, and a couple of humor lists.
I have been a hospice volunteer for four years, until last year, and have taken my royal standard poodle, as a certified therapy dog, to numerous hospitals and institutions.
Now, I shall bide a wee, lurking, until I sense the tenor of this group.
