John Montgomery-Smith, aged 68 and retired 3 years. Graduated in Physics from Manchester University and have an MBA from City University London. Originally trained as an electronic engineer with The Marconi Company and than became a commercial manager with several international companies, for whom I travelled extensively in Europe and North America. Moved 20 years ago into teaching (Management subjects and Computer Studies).
My wife, Lilli, is German by birth but has lived in England for more than 45 years. She is very interested in foreign languages and is currently studying Mandarin and Japanese, having previously learned Spanish and Swedish. She qualified as a nurse and midwife in the UK and after our family, (2 boys and one girl), trained as a teacher and taught computer-related subjects.
We live in Leyton, London (20 minutes East of Central London), in a Victorian house bought by my grandfather in 1907. We enjoy travelling and have recently visited Russia, China, Siberia, Thailand, New Zealand, America, South Africa and many European countries as tourists. We have both cultural and practical interests and Lilli's include cooking, gardening, dressmaking, languages and German culture. My past-times include woodwork, gardening, photography, video, sculpture, computer-related activities, literature and the media.
