I am a Scot, originally from Ayrshire, now living with my husband Roland on the Isle of Wight. Three of our four children are living with their wives/husband in Hertfordshire, Yorkshire(about to move to Michigan for a year) and Lancashire, while our eldest, Susan, lives in Paris on her own...her husband died almost five years ago. We have six grandchildren, five boys and one girl, who are my heart's delight,(I'm prejudiced, I know!!) the eldest six, the youngest just over one year old, all from the three families in the UK.

Head of English and deputy head for two years of a Hertfordshire Middle School, I took early retirement from teaching, though I've occasionally taught at the local middle school here where I'm the Special Needs Governor.

I'm on the Church Council of the Methodist Church here in Bembridge, and also on the Network Committee. I'm a member of the Vectis Writers' Group, which meets every Monday, and I write articles for publication, the latest being in Saga magazine, although there are others in the pipeline. I am also working on a novel.

I love reading and going to the Isle of Wight Symphony Orchestra concerts, films and plays, as well as visiting places of historical interest. I've been known to play the piano and guitar and sing, but that was in the past. I love swimming, and playing indoor bowls in winter. Walking along the shore is one of my favourite things to do.

I'm now trying to learn bridge, playing against the computer until I'm ready to be let loose on the world!
