Extreme croquet

We do play with the International rules, 6 wicket, wicked game. Truly, polite play is an oxymoron here in the mountains of northern New Mexico.

The only thing that has really ever stopped a game in progress was the acequia flooding the court for irrigation. We have a small pond off the southeast corner (wicket 4) that has some goldfish, and we like to keep them well watered, as the water table has dropped 6 feet in ten years due to the increase in the number of wells that have been sunk into the ground. The acequia provides us with the water we need to keep the fish and the court healthy.

He has the true croquet spirit. He trusts no one but himself;
he never concedes - no matter how far behind he may be -
and he hates his opponents with an all-enduring hate.
- Moss Hart on Darryl Zanuck

If you are visiting northern New Mexico and wish to play, we are always willing to get in another game!
